Does positive thinking help?

Everyone just keeps saying think positive and be positive but does thinking positive always really help? or is it even possible to think positive all the time?


I personally think that yes, positive thinking does help but I cannot be positive all the time!! Life is meant to be full of ups and downs. I have never heard anyone saying that they have not had any problems in their life till now. The point is we should focus on solutions and learning rather than the problems and that is when you start thinking positive.


Has positive thinking helped me?

Yes, it has! At first, when I was introduced to this concept of positive thinking, all I thought was...its impossible! Then I thought let's give it a try and eventually I realized it is possible only if you have faith.


If nothing at all, positive thinking helps you when your day is bad, in anxiety, depression. It somehow lowers the effect and saves you from drowning in your thoughts! Drowning in thoughts is the worst part for me because no one knows that you areeee...unless you tell them!


Here are few techniques that helped me become a positive person-

1.Accepting the present and enjoying the moment (without thinking deeply about the next moment or the past.)

2.Not comparing myself to others! ( I compared myself to others unknowingly which always made me feel unsatisfied)

3.Get into reading good books. (The moment I was sad I would pick up a book and start reading and later I only thought of the book instead of my problem..it helps!!)

4.Talking to myself in the mirror. (I appreciated me, thanked me for being with me, promised to take good care of me, sometimes I even told my problems to myself talking in the mirror and laughed out loud on how stupid am I looking for even saying such a thing. I know it sounds crazy but this technique helped me a lot)

5.Writing down 3 things I am grateful for every day. (I tried this for 21 days and it made me feel so good about myself)


So these are some things that I did to see if positive thinking helps. and it did help me in many ways. I came to know that we live in our minds and mind is so powerful that it can make you and break you. The moment you learn to control your mind, the mind becomes your best friend.
