Meditation- Which is the best one?

There are too many types of meditation that have come up nowadays like zen meditation, Kundalini meditation, body scan meditation, mantra chanting, music meditation, and the list is very long!!

But the question is which one to choose and which one works the best? The answer to this question is quite simple to tell but might take little time to actually practice the same. “Meditation” is all about “awareness”. Being aware of your thoughts, actions, words and even the breath that you take. Be it any type of meditation this is the basic thing to do and also the most difficult one! How many times have you got up in the morning and have observed your first breath or first thought as soon as you wake up? To be honest, I tried to become aware of the same many times but yet I am unsuccessful. I am patiently waiting for the day when I will do it.

Coming to the point- I practice Mantra meditation because I can concentrate more easily when I chant the mantra and my thoughts reduce and sometimes there are no thoughts at all and at the same time it is easier for me to become aware of my breath. Now, not necessary this would be the same for you. You might not be able to chant the mantra may be or any other reason. I would suggest “TRIAL” of every meditation.

How to do the “Trail” of every meditation? Shortlist the types which you think suits you the best or you like doing the most and practice those every day and out of those select the one which you feel is taking closer to yourself or your thoughts or say you can concentrate on your breath more easily. Once you get that one type – that is the best one for you and simply start practicing it. Also, it might happen that you want to change the type after some time or you may feel that multiple types help you- then, in that case, you are free to go ahead with the same.

Concluding, the best type of meditation is the one that you can concentrate the most in and you have to select the best yourself by “trail” method.

My teacher said meditation is in every moment & every second. Meditation does not mean you sit in one place concentrating and forcing yourself to become aware of your breath. Meditation happens when your aware of each step you take, every piece that you put in your mouth while eating, every word that you speak, every thought that comes to your mind and every breath that you take.

It is a long path to reach that stage but it will come someday. All you need is immense patience!!

Thank you for reading!!
