Looking at the picture above I know you all have one question to ask me,” HOW???” and so I am writing this blog for you all to tell you all how did to lose weight. This blog might be long so just relax and read on. Let’s start.
I started with this weight loss journey actually in March 2018 which I would not actually call a start. I use to do a 10am to 6pm sales job come back home by 8pm and go to the gym at 8.30pm and workout till 9.30 or 10pm and went to sleep.. all tired!! I did not follow any diet then, I ate all sorts of junk food every single day because I was always hungry and bloated. I always wanted to learn yoga and make a career in yoga because that was something I thought of every day while working in the office. I somehow started hating the job and saw that I was no more interested in working in the office so I left my job in April 2018 after working for 5months.
After leaving my job I took admission for 900-hour yoga teacher training course. I learned so many things on weight loss in those 3months of training, not only from teachers but also from my friends that gave me tips to lose weight. All my friends were thinner than me because of which I was always in anxiety and my only aim was losing weight. But controlling diet…NAH! it was impossible for me. I cannot do dieting for the whole of my life so I never did it and so I never really lose any weight even after I finished my course and even when I practiced yoga every day.
The actual journey started when I joined my 200-hour international yoga teacher training course in Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh). It was just for 21days and I lost 4kgs in just 21days!! I could not believe it on myself too. My skin looked good, I felt good inside out + all my cravings had almost just gone!!
Here’s what I did there. My day started at 6.30am- I got all freshened up and went for 7am yoga class & came back at 9am and had breakfast, then I read books, went for a walk or just went off to sleep till 10.30 because I had lectures from 11am onwards. Then, at 1pm I had lunch and then again lects, 4pm yoga class, and 6pm meditation, 7pm dinner and then go for a walk, drink some tea come back to the room and I went off to sleep at 9.30 or max 10pm. Seems like I did nothing right? But, there’s something extra to add in it.
First, we practiced Ashtanga Yoga which means a lot of sweating and calories burning because ashtanga helps you build muscles & strength. Second, we went trekking on mountains at least twice or thrice a week and believe me it was never easy as I had no strength at all and I was always last in the group to reach the top, we walked for 3, 4, 5 hours sometimes on a high & very steep mountains. Third, the place I was staying in – we had to walk up the mountain for 10mins to take a cab and I was most of the time with my teacher who never use to take a cab which means walking for 5 to 6kms to go to the market and I had no other option. Towards the end of the course, I made sure I walked everywhere I go and never took a cab because I started seeing the difference in my strength. Walking anywhere was like minimum 1 hour or more if I am walking slowly. I use to sweat crazy and my face was always red walking through those mountains up and down.
I completed my course and came back home and everyone told me that they can see an overall difference in me. It motivated and I continued almost the same diet, same practice, started walking, took stairs instead of the lift and walked any distance below 3kms.
Coming to this month, now everyone can see the difference and people ask me how did you do it? I say “consistency”.
I will post about some myths that I believed to be true for weight loss and what I eat now in my next blog. So stay tuned. Don’t worry.. you don’t have to wait much!
Thank you for reading!!
